Say hello to finally progressing forward & reaching the next level of your horsemanship.

Feel like you're just bouncing along for the ride?

Get out of that rut and achieve greater body control, balance, stability, and confidence in the saddle so that you can move in harmony with your horse.

Do you ever lay in bed at night and wonder to yourself… why is my horsemanship not where I want it to be?

Well, you're not alone my friend.

You’ve spent way too much time feeling frustrated and stuck with your riding, when what you really want is to feel confident, like you can make good progress, and actually have fun in the saddle again.

But how do you get there without spending countless hours at the next clinic, in a gym (no thanks), or on a cookie cutter workout program made by someone who doesn’t even ride?

Oh, and without leaving your farm or ranch, or changing into workout clothes.

Some would say that’s a pretty big ask. But trust me, you’re in the right place ;)

So, what if...

You could wake up every day without the feeling of being stuck and unable to progress with your horse?

What if you understood why your horse doesn’t pick up on your cues.

What if you understood why you feel stiff and achy after every ride (or all the time).

What if you understood why your saddle constantly slips to one side.

What if you understood why you have to lengthen one stirrup an extra hole to feel balanced.

What if you understood why you use your reins for balance.

And what if you understood why you just can’t seem to get square in that dang saddle.

Imagine what it would be like to start progressing in your horsemanship the way YOU want to

You’re starting to realize that maybe there’s a different approach to improving your horsemanship that you’re not aware of.

Heck, you might be thinking “YES, there’s got to be a better way for me!”

Good news: You’re right. There is a way, and it all has to do with how effectively you move YOUR body. And here is how.

Welcome to: Hitting Your Stride

An online self paced foundational movement course for riders who want to progress forward and reach the next level in their horsemanship.

When you know how to effectively use and move your body, you'll feel stable and confident in the saddle, cue your horse more effectively, and to move, and achieve harmony, with your horse.

Know this: Finding your groove with your horse isn’t just about taking more horsemanship clinics, or horsemanship lessons, or learning more about your horse.

As riders, we also NEED more awareness of our own bodies, we NEED better movement patterns, we NEED better timing, more agility (the ability to change directions), and the ability to absorb and transfer force well, to name a few ;)

“Janelle has completely shifted my mindset on motion - from a misinterpreted chore, to an appreciation of what my body is capable of. I’m learning how everything is connected, both in and out of the saddle, and how you can work fitness into your everyday life rather than by force.”

Sounds like just what you need?

Here’s what you'll learn in this self paced online course...

Comprehensive Self-Assessment

Includes a starting point questionnaire to help you determine which factors specific to riding may be contributing to your success and which may be limiting it.

As well as a self-guided riders assessment to help you realize where your body is physically to help pinpoint areas of strength and areas for improvement.

Module on Creating Body Awareness

The oh-so-elusive body awareness. It can be frustrating not knowing where your own body is, let alone your horse's body, your rope, your reins, your horn… despite popular belief, this is a skill that can be developed and we dive right into it. As you continue with the rest of the course, you will keep developing this foundational skill. Be ready for your horse to finally pick up on your cues!

Module on Balanced Alignment

Stop tipping forward, falling behind your horse's movement, or leaning into your circle. Learn how to carry yourself in balance. This skill is not only crucial for our own stability but also directly impacts our horse's ability to move in balance.

Module on Breathing Mechanics

Whether you hold your breath while you’re riding or not, learn how the impact of breathing goes far beyond just “breathe!” HOW you are breathing directly influences various aspects of our physiology and performance in the saddle, and what you can do to improve your breathing mechanics.

Module on Core Stability for Riding

If your core feels weak while riding, this is for you! You'll learn how strengthening your core for riding isn't just about building a 6 pack and your abs; it's about enhancing your bodies ability to stabilize itself, improving it’s ability to coordinate with itself, and achieving this all in conjunction with the movement of a horse!

Module on the Rider's Lower Body

If you struggle with your leg aid, or if your horse feels really dull to it, this is for you! Understand that optimizing the function of your lower body is essential for achieving stability, balance, and effectiveness in the saddle as well as delivering clear leg aids to your horse.

Exercises for Rider's Lower Body

We will go through a series of exercises designed to specifically enhance your movement patterns and the strength of your lower body in ways that are necessary for effective riding.

Module on the Rider's Upper Body

If you struggle to coordinate your left and right hand together, or if your horse doesn't listen your rein pressure, this is for you! We will dive into the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands, and dissect their roles in your positioning and communication with your horse.

Exercises for Rider's Upper Body

We will go through a series of exercises designed to specifically enhance the movement patterns and strength of your upper body in ways that are necessary for effective riding.

The Building Stage

Learn how you can strategically progress and build on the foundational elements we have just gone through. This includes showing you how to increase strength, endurance, efficiency, speed, reaction time, direction change/agility, force absorption, and coordination. Falling behind your horse wont be a worry anymore!

The time and expertise of a gal that has a kinesiology degree with a specialization in sport performance, who rides herself, and who actually cares about you, your horse, and getting your horsemanship to where you want it to be.

If you’re feeling stuck in your riding...

“If you’re feeling stuck in your riding (like I was two years ago) or at a place where you feel like you don’t really have time for it (like I was two with little ones), get some coaching from Janelle.

Her work stands apart. Also because I’ve never seen someone offer what she does. Both my husband and I have learned and grown so much in our riding because of what Janelle offers. You won’t regret doing her online courses. I love learning from her; and she will be your biggest cheerleader. Check her out, especially with riding season coming around - it’s never too late to learn some new things and quickly you’ll see from her. You don’t have to be stuck. I’ve noticed huge changes in my riding and I give a lot of that credit to Janelle.”

Hey, I’m Janelle!

And here’s why I can help you actually ride the way you want to.

First, I have been where you are, so frustrated with my riding I didn’t know what to do. I have laid awake in bed, with hips, neck, back, and really every body part aching, in the depths of despair, wondering “what the heck am I doing wrong?!” and “why can’t I just get this to work?” and “whhhyyyyy does it have to be so hard?!”

But I’ve been on quite a journey. And no, my riding is definitely not perfect now. I’m continually working on improving myself and my horses. But being on this journey myself is what helps me understand and help my clients finally progress forward, past the frustrations, and achieve success in their riding too.

Got questions?

Good, because I have answers!

How long will I have access to the Hitting Your Stride?

You’ll get lifetime access to the entire course as long as it is alive and well on my platform. If there are any updates to the program, you'll have access to those too!

How long will it take me to complete Hitting Your Stride?

Each module is about an hour long to watch. However the amount of time you take to put it into action greatly impacts your success with the course.

You’re busy? Me too!

I design all my programs with the busy rancher in mind. I provide tips and tricks, and highly encourage you to take what you learn out into your everyday life. Fixing fence? Great! Use your new found body awareness to use your core more effectively there. It will most certainly help with your ride!

Who is the course best suited for?

Hitting Your Stride is meant to teach you about your body and how you can use it to ride more effectively.

You can be a rider of any age, any riding level, any discipline and any fitness level. You just need to be ready to commit, invest, and work hard to learn and practice the tools needed to hit your stride!

How much effort is required?

When it comes to Hitting Your Stride, you will get out of it what you put into it (like most things).

We are developing SKILLS in this course - and skills take time and practice to develop. It will not just be physical effort - these are not going to be butt-kicking workouts. In developing feel, timing, awareness, alignment, and all the other skills we discuss, it is going to be a combination of mental effort and physical effort.

Certain exercises are “easy” if done without the awareness, without the core connection, or without the correct movement, so pay attention to the cues and you will leave feeling like you both mentally and physically accomplished something! In the course I give you ways to apply the concepts discussed not only to your workouts and your riding but to your everyday activities as well. The more you practice the concepts, the easier they will be to apply. So ultimately, you get to gauge the amount of effort you put into it :)

Is there any specific fitness equipment required?

For Hitting Your Stride you will require no specific fitness equipment. You will need a wall that you can place your hands and feet on and floor space.

It can be helpful, but it is NOT required, to have:

Yoga mat

Yoga block

Mirror, video, photo, or some other device for visual feedback

Resistance bands and/or dumbbells to help progress the exercises

I am not currently fit, or not currently riding, is Hitting Your Stride still right for me?

Yes! Hitting Your Stride can still be right for you, even if you aren’t currently fit or riding! A goal of Hitting Your Stride is to help prepare and develop your body for riding.

I welcome everyone at all levels. All that is needed is your ambition and determination to make the positive changes you desire!

If you are currently fit, or training on your own, this is a great program to add to what you’re already doing! It will help you move better, and help you apply your fitness to your riding.

I have a previous injury, does that matter?

I’m not sure I know a horse rider who doesn’t have a previous injury!

However, because this is a group program, it is developed for generally healthy people. If you are currently struggling with an injury that can be made worse with physical activity, if you have heart or lung conditions, or if you have more than one chronic health condition, or if you have a question regarding an injury or health condition, please message me at [email protected] and we can discuss what we can do for you!
